What is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion (MDA) is a skin treatment which uses a special system to exfoliate and remove the outer layers of skin. Depending on the system, a stream of micro-crystals may be used to exfoliate the skin, or alternatively, a diamond tip. Through removing the outermost layers, the skin increases production of new cells in the layers beneath. This results in an overall improvement in the skins texture. Microdermabrasion can be used
What does a microdermabrasion treatment involve?
The skin is cleansed prior to treatment and, depending on the system being used, the patient may need to wear goggles to protect their eyes from any stray crystals. The wand of the microdermabrasion machine is passed over the skin using a controlled technique. The wand also contains a vaccum, which immediately removes any crystals or dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. The procedure can be repeated on a regular basis as part of a course to improve and maintain skin health.
What does the microdermabrasion course involve?
The session starts with an interactive presentation led by our skin expert, which will cover the science behind the treatment itself, contraindications and how to carry out the microdermabrasion procedure.
In the afternoon, delegates will be given the opportunity to perform the procedure either on each other or on a model, with guidance from our tutor. This gives everyone hands on experience of the treatment and allows them to perfect their technique.
